Krampus is a mythical figure in German-speaking Alpine folklore which pre-dates Christian holiday traditions. Where St. Nicholas rewards children for being good throughout the year, naturally, the Krampus comes for those who have been bad. Seasonal greeting cards featuring Krampus (often with St. Nicholas) saying "Gruss vom Krampus" (Greetings from the Krampus) are traditionally sent to family and friends in certain parts of the world.
