"The title of the show Together Op Art is a play on "Together Apart" and how we are living and coping in these unprecedented times - just trying to keep it together while living apart." - Erik Orr
Op art is short for optical art, an art style that utilizes optical illusions to create movement, dimension, and hidden features. This show is representative of Erik's exploration of optical illusions in geometric configurations - exploring shape and color to create simple yet dramatic works painted on wood.
"Let’s be honest, for many artists (and everyone else) right now, inspiration is a struggle. Many of us are being pulled in a thousand directions and just finding time to create art is difficult. That’s why I chose to use this time to try something very different than what I have done in the past. Through this exploration, I was able to find the inspiration that guided me in the creation of this collection. I was inspired in a way that has truly helped me keep it together while living apart from most of my friends and family. I hope you find peace in the simplicity of this show. No statement. No agenda. No deeper meaning. Just fun optical tricks to question your own eyes and maybe a moment to forget about everything else.”
