Julio Cesar - The Nest
The Nest, oil painting on canvas by Julio Cesar. 24" x 18"
Of his interest in Mondrian, Cesar explains:
“My first introduction to the work of Mondrian was in 1992, and it inspired me to make a small piece that used the basic geometric elements, coupled to randomly chosen symbologies, along with forms that called attention to their simplicity. I was drawn to that same idea last year, in the midst of a pandemic and absolute uncertainty, which interfered with the course of our lives.”
Guided by the concepts of abstraction and figuration, Cesar demonstrates his vision of universal harmony, order and dreams, which are intentionally mixed in each composition. He also integrates familiar images and scenarios from previous works, in order to manipulate his own visual language in a refreshing and authentic way.
This exhibition will allow the public to interact with two artists and styles within the same body of work. The merging of a primary and basic aesthetic with one of complexity and decoration has been the underlying principle for these paintings, challenging Cesar to bridge his artistic and personal interests. Cesar states, ”Putting together this exhibition helped me to release those energies, because for me, art is the voice with which I describe my reality and my works are the windows through which I shout my silences.”
