The Great American Eclipse, acrylic on wooden panel by local artist Justin Trevor Inkwell.
Dimensions: 8" x 10"
Justin Trevor Inkwell is a self-taught artist from rural Kentucky. His style leans toward imaginative contemporary realism, taking inspiration from all time periods and styles - though he has a particular love for neoclassical painting, Golden Age American illustration, and 80's sci-fi book covers. The thematic connect of his work changes with his season of life and whatever philosophical questions haunt him most recently. The series on view is titled "Marks and moments," playing into ideas of nostalgia, personal and collective memory, the passage of time, the media used to capture our fleeting moments, and how those media shape our feelings about those moments.
