Grow 5" x 7" Giclee Print by local Louisville artist, Amber Thieneman!
For the 2021 Photo Biennial, Revelry Gallery is pleased to feature an installation of photography work in the front window by multidisciplinary artist Amber Thieneman. Thieneman's latest collection of photography work meditates on themes of feminism and nature. This work is an exploration of both a connection and disconnection from nature and from eachother as we emerge from a year of isolation. The artist used this time to investigate pieces of herself that were erased or go unnoticed. In an act of becoming visible again, subjects bend with light, shadow, and the natural environment reminding the viewer of a collective impermanence.
Thieneman’s photographs have a ghostly, otherworldly quality that evoke a surreal and timeless space. Presented informally in found vintage frames of varying size and shape, and using a variety of printing techniques, the collection can almost be read as an enigmatic family album, inviting the viewer to see parts of themselves in the unexpected.
