Trans Felicity by Lane Levitch

Displayed at Revelry in September 2023, in collaboration with the Louisville Photography Biennial

Shooting film since 2012, Lane Levitch finally steps in front of his own camera. Before, he didn’t like how the world perceived him; His face so permanent on his negative strips. After receiving gender affirming surgery in August 2022, Lane began documenting the healing process and stepping into his confidence. He now embraces the permanence of film. Trans Felicity is a celebration of transgender joy and self respect.

Taking self portraits in nature, Lane gets to do something he always dreamed of: Being shirtless with the sun touching his skin. Trans Felicity is meant to stand still in time, to bottle up the happiness from the year following surgery. To be a reminder for Lane that he has come a long way in his gender journey, but also as a reminder to trans youth that it does, in fact, get better.
