Equine Fascination
In the spirit of The Kentucky Derby, Revelry Gallery welcomes equine artist, Melissa Crase + floral designer-turned-milliner, Nicole Bracken for a first time collaboration of equestrian paintings + extravagant fascinators.
In this show, these two high school best friends merged design elements from each other’s work, resulting in a playful and colorful symbiosis. Their collaborative goal was to create a colorful show that reflects the celebratory nature surrounding the Kentucky Oaks & Derby, while paying homage to two themes: horses and fascinators. Just like spring in Kentucky, the trending hues and colors present in their pieces are fresh and optimistic.
“Springtime always feels like a fresh start, but after the past couple of winters, everything seems even more vibrant and hopeful this time around! We wanted to create a collection of bright pieces that showcase the excitement surrounding spring horse racing in Kentucky—and hopefully just bring some joy to people who see our collaboration!” - Melissa Crase
Melissa’s work is a mix of acrylics, inks, pastels and spray paints on canvas, with vibrant colors and textures being key elements of her style. Her work can be found in galleries across the country, and in private collections both nationally and internationally. Many of her pieces reside in the permanent collections of the Omni Hotel-Louisville, and both the University of Kentucky and the University of Kentucky Hospital. Her art has also been featured on the set of an A&E Lifetime movie.
